About Me

Hi👋
My name is Jan. 38 years old, from Belgium.
A couple of years ago, my wife and I moved to Sweden for her opportunity to work at IKEA of Sweden. At that time I started an AB and worked as a freelance consultant for a client I used to work for back in Belgium.
About 2 years ago, I paused my freelancing to renovate a fritidshus, which is now almost ready for us to use and rent out. With that project nearly completed, I’m eager to return to a team environment.Â
I started my career as a project manager at Cronos in Antwerp while studying for a master’s degree in Communication and Multimedia. Over the past ten years, I transitioned into a strategist role, focusing on improving briefings, teamwork, and understanding the "why" behind decisions. Placing users’ needs at the forefront. I feel at place helping designers, developers, and business teams collaborate more effectively. I love being a liaison between those parties in a project.
My time at TBWA Brussels, was rewarding but led me to seek work focused on real user needs. I joined an ex-colleague in growing her UX design agency, Monkeyshot, helping shape the company, and working with our teams both in-house and remotely. This was the last company I worked for in Belgium before moving to Sweden.Â
More recently, I worked remotely for a SaaS company, WooRank, on an SEO product, focusing on measuring product performance and adapting it accordingly. The company had a diverse, international workforce, and the working language was English.
I have led multidisciplinary teams from different companies through projects from start to finish. I’m used to make and give presentations, tell stories, sell and clarify complex ideas, understanding project needs, and executing them effectively. Working with predominantly large companies has learned me to manage complex projects and diverse teams. I am comfortable navigating multilingual business settings, speaking Dutch, French, and English and now I'm also learning Swedish.
I value being considerate to colleagues and recognizing the importance of free time, maintaining a healthy and productive work environment.
While my professional background is more of a strategic and managerial nature, I always stayed very close to the creative and technical aspects of our work.
My UX and UI experience was always full of prototyping of digital interfaces where the iterative process and goal of turning ideas into tangible results are the same.
Ensuring solutions meet user needs.
It has given me a deep understanding of the iterative process and what it takes to bring concepts to live. Outside of my day jobs, I have always been busy with hands-on projects. I have created this website to showcase some relevant projects I've completed over the years.
